i remember when i laughed at matty when he tole me people use hockey pucks to raise engine, but seems to work perfectly, me likes alot cant wait to see it sitting on the new wheels

its coming from the sump gasket, think its where the sumps taken such a battering? the real bodge is how the sump bung is held in......

now i've decided to tidy the car up i'm going to keep an eye out for a new sump, get a plate welded to the bottom and then fit a new gasket when i swap it over.

but for now the oil helps me to get over speed bumps and get into my drive!

have you only put the puck under one of the mounts?

yes buddy, i only needed to lift the front of the sump out of harms way and wanted to see how well it lasted before i go all out and raise the whole lot.

ghetto is my middle name.

As for height difference i stupidly didnt measure before or after but its lifted the bottom of the sump above the lowest point of the subframe which was the reason for doing it.

the puck is 25mm thick and made of vulcanised rubber so after compression i'm guessing its given me 15 - 20mm lift at the front?

yo, i went to my local vw guy and he hasnt got any tail gates at the moment but he might be getting a couple of mk3s in soon so he will let me know soon as possible and no CL moldings, yet

this week i have been mainly getting the car ready for running the 17's, chassis notch is done and just needs undersealing, i've rebuilt the coilovers so the only thing limiting how low i can go now is the body of the coilovers.

even tho this is so i can still go low on 17's i thought i'd drop it as far as possible on the 15's for time being....... (tenner says next time you have a tape measure in your hand you'll measure your arch to floor)





continuing my "less is more" approach to modifying (read that as "take sh*t off that scrapes, rubs or gets in the way") i had to remove a bracket from under the car after getting royally stuck trying to get in my own drive!





i'm now positive its as low as it can be on the merc 15's, well almost......

195/40's arrived on friday morning so i've now got everything i need for the 17's, just gotta finish painting and polishing and get them back together hopefully in time for spring fest.

im really looking forward to this m8 what sorta arch mods have you done?

the car will be going thru a few changes over the next few weeks, starting with the wheels then having a general tidy up including the likely removal of the side stickers

so enjoy these pics as i could be about to get it wrong and f*ck it up!

cheers mate, so far i've hammered the lips back flush but should be collecting some new front wings tomorrow so i'll sort the lips and prep them properly before painting. the rears just need tidying up, i want to try and retain the original arch shape as much as possible, not a fan of pulled arches on MK3's. The arch liners are also long gone!

they're not a massive secret, just keeping you all guessing until they are on the car. I've not seen a UK MK3 or any other UK built VW run them.

its the wheels that have inspired the whole rebuild and tidy up, otherwise i was going to get rid of it and buy something newer to hit with my ghetto stick.

Oh i accidently have a pic as i was playing with potatoshop with them and a pic of your car....secrets safe though and i know they will look hella sweet once done!!!!

i am really reallllly wishing i had bought a mk3 atm.... this thing is slammed and i think it deserves to be in mine and my brothers book of slam points, you get awarded with an 8 out of 10!
