| I really thought your stickered rub-strips looked pretty nice. But having said that, textured black plastic is much better. Good choice my man | |

cheers stampers. as much as i loved the individuality of the side strips, stickers are becoming completely played out and over done now, especially on MK3's. i'm trying to step away from the gimmicks like stickers, roof racks etc and get back to basics. - curtis_caddy wrote:

coming from someone with 2 awesome project cars that means alot buddy! i like the front tuck on your MK2 so much i wanted to see what mine would look like so i swapped back to the original wheels today, nowhere near as good looking as yours. i was gutted. oh and for anyone that may be confused, this isnt 'rat-look'

remember Ian, its not 'rat-look' so therefore the 'rules' dont apply. no emulsion here, please move along. nothing to see. - matty_mk1 wrote:

cheers buddy, neither can i... i'm trying to get everything sorted for inters so i'm not rushing the wheel fitment. want everything to be just right. in my vain attempt to get the MK3 sitting close to 69rat's beetle i have come up against a slight obstacle. please ignore the various wear marks on the driveshaft and concentrate on the bottom arm and the bolt that attaches the subframe to the chassis. i'll drop the bottom arms out at some point before inters and grind both the raised parts off, i may even angle the edge of the bolt head ever so slightly. and for those wondering what on earth is causing the rub mark in the far left of the driveshaft, thats where it touches the hub!

Im with Joe on this, there's not many 3s that I like, but this is deffo one, and cant wait to see the wheels on Jonny thanks for that, there's alot of really good Mk3's around at the mo and i reckon inters and edition will be crammed with them so it'll be interesting to see how mine lines up? - billybug wrote:

the painters and decorators cant fit me in for another 3 weeks, they've got a 2 bedroom semi to paint first...... - max wrote:

| started to put the car back together today ready for tomorrow's meet....still got the front half in bits and 2 different sets of wheels on it but it will be roadworthy by tomorrow night, well as roadworthy as it normally is. does my bum look big in this? as you may have noticed by now i have a really bad habit of not being able to leave things alone and when i get an idea i normally just do it and see what happens. so when i was painting the rear bumper today and looked over at the the merc wheels propped against the barn and the box of aerosols next to them i had a thought. hhmm i wonder. too late. i did it. | |

my project camaro is for sale now so im on the look out for a mk3 to play around with for a year you have inspired me! cheers billy, the car looked too dark without the stickers so needed something to brighten it up. do it! if you get one i'll fly out with a pound coin to measure it! do it! cheers to everyone that come over and commented / had a chat about the car last night, appreciate everyones opinions. it amused me watching people realise it had different colour wheels on each side..... think the skirts almost had it, i put a self tapper through it and into the bottom of the wing to hold it on for the time being. the skirt was there when we left mine and was still there when we got to the meet. result.
