in order to do all that i had to get the car in the drive. the sensible thing would have been to raise it. i didnt.

i thought i saw another mk3 in ur drive when i passed on sunday, thought it might have been a vr lol, did you see it was me? i did try and hang out the window and wave dunno if you noticed lol

at long long last the wheels are almost ready to be bolted together, just gotta give the lips and bolts a final polish.

i needed to clean some old silicon off the backs off the lips so i put a wire wheel attachment into an electric drill, put the drill in a black and decker workmate and G-clamped it for good measure, then locked the button on. goggles and gloves, safety first.

all went well until my attention lapsed and the glove on my right hand got caught in the wire wheel.

stung like a biiiiatch, lifted the whole bench up and tried to spin it round my hand. stupid thing is i had to lay the wheel lip on the floor gently so i could reach under the bench and shut the drill off.

funny thing is that happened shortly after sending you the picture, i thought i'll just clean the backs up. doh.

golfs looking sick, will look sick on 17's. i struggle with my vr and she aint half as low as this! looks sick on the move! you know the vr noise is AMAIZING!

erm you might want to stop reading this thread now Jack.... the 3dr is in its new home. need to tidy the barn up a bit as its been used for storage over the last couple of years but once the powers all hooked up it should be a nice little work space.

cheers dude. i've never seen it rolling, mainly due to the fact no-one else will dare drive it. the VR noise is awesome but there's a sound i like alot more, the sound of anti-lag.

oh and hand update. day 2.

spent yesterday morning cleaning the new workshop out, just needs a lick of paint to brighten it up and some power sorting out.

once the electric is sorted i'll be on the lookout for a 2nd hand 2 post ramp and a tyre machine....





as most of you will know i've been driving around for the past couple of months without windscreen wipers or exterior mirrors. in place of the mirrors i fashioned so quick make shift blanks out of flat plastic, textured wall paint and some satin black aerosol. like this.



obviously driving around with no mirrors and cheap bits of plastic stuck to the doors is both stupid and dangerous so i decided to rectify the situation over the weekend.

i started with this. its a mk3 mirror base for universal dtm or ganador style mirrors.



can you guess what i did next, thats right, i filled it with fibreglass resin and filler!



quick coat of black paint and then a couple of coats of texture over the top.





and dont worry, i did one for the other side too....



so i'm still stupid and dangerous but now the places where my exterior mirrors should be look a whole lot better.
