Still have the tt comps. Was somebody already said they are interested in them but going to clean them up a bit first and see if he would like them still. If not ill be putting them on here for sale. And yeah these are reps. Always on the look out for wheels though so might change these if i see something i like. | |

| Im begining to get slighty bored of this car Lovely to drive but just not 'fun' hmmm i really cant cancel another insurance though. I have been driving since 17 and still have zero no-claims as i havent owned the same car for a full year or used the same insurance company for a full year i would have had some no claims but the company i had with the golf wouldnt go near me on this so had to cancel and start from scratch I found this photo of my old mk2 on my camera today, hadn't seen this one before. Its not helping the situation. | |

| Right.. made a small start yesterday and have done just about all i can on this today now. Managed to get everything disconnected from the head, (inlet manifold was a b****** ) just waiting till tomorrow so i can buy or borrow some torx sockets for the exhaust manifold and some spline drives to take the head bolts out then with a bit of luck she should lift off. Should then be able to find out what the awfull tapping noise was after there was a pop oh well its all fun and games eh. Currently at this stage now minus the timing belt Looking a bit sorry for itself at the minute Worlds most messy workshop, and this is after a whole morning making room to fit a car inside | |

| I can't see much wrong at the minute. Though the cam chain tensioner/variable valve timing thing seems to 'squelch' and ouse oil out when turning the engine over by hand, im not sure if thats normal when its not running as lack of oil pressure? But will get a better look when its right off. And yeah thats what i mean , i always get those mixed up! I have some torx and spline drives but none of those fit them. | |

| has the cam chain got any excessive play in it, could the noise be chain slap from the tensioner being fubared? | |

| No the chain seems tight enough i think. I've never done one of these though so im not really sure how much is excessive but its definatly not flapping around loose.. just the actual 'hydraulic ram' part of the tensioner makes a squeltching noise when turned over by hand on the crank nut. I can press the ram part of the tensioner down by hand if i try hard enough, but again im not sure if im supposed to be able to do that or not as never done one before Also there is quite a bit of slack on the chain in places when turning it over, so that for a small time only one cam is moving, if that makes sense.. but im not sure if thats due to no oil pressure on the tensioner. | |

| i'm pretty sure that sounds about right for the tensioner to me, there should be 16 links between the 2 cams when timed up properly, could the timing have jumped at all, hence the 1 cam only moving and it sounding like a bag of nails | |

| Im thinking that could be a posibility but im pretty sure it hasnt slipped the belt end so would have been the chain if it has slipped. Quite worrying though as it had apparently been changed along with the timing belt not that many miles before i bought it. I have only dont about 5500 miles in the thing | |

| If i do repair it i will just get reconditioned block and head, i won't bother putting new turbo ect on as this one is ok i think. On the other hand im in two minds whether to even do that at the moment, breaking it for parts has crossed my mind but that could just be because im sick of the sight of the thing right now | |

| That don't look good dude, I'd say you need a new head and perhaps the bearings have gone on the rods somehow on that piston hence the lower positon i think there's a few engines for sale on ebay and edition | |
