Yeah got it all back together in the end
Didnt go as smoothly as i hoped though!
Mechanicly the engine was spot on ran like a dream! but there was a problem with over boosting, i tried everything i knew, had it on vag-com and it didnt show alot really just told me that it had been over boosting which i knew already, and was one fault code for the MAF sensor. Replaced the MAF (wasnt cheap
) but it made sod all difference
Checked for boost leaks on all the boost pipes, replaced all the clamps for the boost pipes off the turbo so they were all tight, checked the intercooler for leaks, nothing wrong found there at all. Was still over boosting like mad.. i ran out of money to keep throwing at it, not working at a garage anymore i couldnt plug it into vag-com for free
and couldnt try any parts or sensors without buying them first
In the end i sold it to someone on Ed38 for peanuts, sold as a project. The chap who bought it worked at an audi dealership and it took him about 3-4 months of fiddling to find out what the problem was, turned out the ECU was to blame
he text me at one point and said he had put a boost gauge on it to see what was going on while trying to find the fault and it spiked to 21psi at 3000rpm!
Lesson learned, i never want to see another 20vt for the rest of my life
cost me an arm and a leg to build and sold it for less than i payed for the conrod/piston combo
Should have broke it for parts soon as it messed up in the first place!
But yeah Im all good mate! Got a kitted out van, tools, petrol compressor, generator, tyre machine ect just trying to get the work! You still at Ians?
