| not too much to update really apart from the fact the 17's won't be ready for spring fest had far too much work on over the last couple of weeks and as always have left the wheels to the last minute (i've had them 4 months now), the barrels are painted and the centres are in primer awaiting paint and lacquer but the lips and bolts still have the old paint on and need polishing up, then the whole lot need rebuilding and the tyres put on. after thats all done i've then i've still got to work out what spacers i need to get the best fitment and then find out how the hell i'm going to lower it enough to still be anti social.... so there you go, no new wheels for spring fest. f*ck it. on other news i have been collecting panels for the imminent freshen up and so far have 2 grills, 2 front bumpers, 1 rear bumper, 2 wings, gti splitter, VENTO splitter and full set of VR6 side mouldings all ready for playing with! the smooth bumper in the top left of the pic is probably never going to be finished now as its completely the opposite to the look i'm going for now. | |

i resisted for as long as possible but night time driving in the rain became pretty 'interesting' with fully blacked out headlights, no mirrors and no wipers.

| time for a little summer time public service announcement on health and safety.... when working on your own car in the summer afternoons in a 'diy' capacity it is good practice to follow some basic guidelines :
- when jacking a vehicle do so on the manufacturers recommended jacking points
- if the vehicle is to be worked on whilst jacked up be sure to use axle stands on a flat level surface so the vehicle is equally supported and not able to move
- make sure your work environment is suitable for the task in hand and not in a place that is dangerous to yourself or others
- make sure to correctly wear and use PPE (personal protective equipment such as overalls, steel toe capped boots etc)
now i've got that out the way here's a couple of pictures of me setting the ride height on my car today......

| the joys of big arches and small wheels, dont even need to put the steering on full lock. maybe you should run 15's on the TT, would make any height adjustments a piece of p*ss! | |

| the splitter is one of my most favouritest things about the whole car now, didnt think it would be that noticably different. but it is. Max its actually a Vento GL splitter, same as the american spec splitters so is shallower than a VR but better than a GTI as its the same depth all the way round. Oh and steph took that picture on her phone, whilst driving!!! Billy, i'll lower it when you get a MK3 and give me something to worry about......
