Cheers dude, the wings are far from perfect as they are the rusty originals patched up, the arches were rotten, but i hope they will give me a few more years now, they are well sealed up and rust free, archs are rolled now and not very pretty, but the bbs kit will hide that hahaha, anyway paint for them this weekend dude, come have a look

What about BBS kit? How are you guna paint it - off the car? Not sure about this yet.. I'm gonna polish the kit first to see if it needs paint, if so I might fit it first then paint, I think it might be easier but not sure yet booth worked great too, but very dark in there lol

| Ive been busy again today, and its been an up and down day for progress, last week the engine and box went back in. I fittied the front and rear mounts, but was a bit over zealous tightening the gearbox mounts and ruined the threads so the nuts just spun , anyway after fitting the exhaust manifold it was obvious those mounts would need loosening again as there were massive clearance issues. Lee suggested we jack the front mount all the way up to tilt the engine backwards, and after a lot of hassle he managed to undo my mistake removing threaded gearbox mount nuts (sorry for that one mate ) and we tilted the engine backwards. After tightening the front mounts up again and offering up the manifold it butted up nicely, and even now cleared the steering rack although the new angle of the engine meant the gearbox mount would no longer even attach to the car and would need modding to work. Ever with the bright ideas Mr Rage came through again and suggested we cut a 10mm from the polybush section, bringing the mount into contact wth the studs.. It worked, it worked perfectly, and after re-threading the knackered mounting studs we had that attached, and the manifold is now bolted on tightly, no clearance issues on the rack although its in contact slightly with the ARB, but i reckon that wont be too bad to sort Got some shiney bits attached too, a Bogg Brothers manifold and a dbilas water flange from Germany to solve the carb clearance issue.. So hopefully it will be running now very soon, fingers crossed haha | |

| Been working hard on the mk1 again with the Lee and Simons help we got loads done today. We got the screen and A pillar trims fitted and the seats bolted in. Then we turned attention back to getting the car running.. Fitting the wiring, checking the water hoses, filling the rad and putting oil in ect.. turned the key and..... nothing, just turning over but no starting. This problem was present on the first engine too, we guessed a faulty ignition switch as everything else had been checked, looking at the wiring around the ignition its a surprise it didnt catch fire.. Lee had a spare gti loom so it was out with the dash and in with the new loom in about 30 mins.. Then turned the key again, and after a few seconds she started and ran brilliantly , excellent really as the dizzy timing or carbs arnt even set, but it purred so sweetly and made me feel great to hear it rev.. So cheers to Si and Lee for getting it going its AWESOME!!!!!! Now just the throttle cable to do, and building up the rest of the car.. she will be on the road VERY soon | |

| So i think its time for a quick update. Im still working hard to bring the MK1 out on the road with the Germany trip just 6 weeks away . Ive spent hours and hours getting all the electrics working, light problems, horn, just about everything an mot tester wants working.. Didnt but finally i think ive cracked it with everything working as it should. Ive changed the front brakes for G60 280mm discs and calipers, unfortunately now the BBS RA's wont fit, they are 15's but the design of the wheel fouls the caliper.. GRRRRRR its always something lol, anyway heres the pics.. So i needed new wheels and yesterday collected these from Ruffdub, you'll see em in for sale section as a set of white OZ wheels, but after a few hours this is how they look.. Just a quick refurb done in course texture, look ok and saved ages on prep cos the texture hides everything So all i have to do now is re-fit the dash and fit the new wheels, set up the carbs and find some filters that will clear the bonnet and after checking everythings fine.. its going finally for an mot, not sure when but its soon as ive insured it from saturday Fingers crossed no more problems..... | |

| First drive today!!! It was only a very slow hundred feet and was interesting to say the least with gears, clutch and brakes taking a bit of getting used to lol, but it wants to go and i cant wait to get it out on the open road Found many more little teething problems to sort, but got all weekend to tinker with it now.. See the first attempt at me driving it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH8iHgFtty4&feature=youtu.beAnd cheers to Lee for the video | |
