The screw will be in there, its reachable with a long 3mm allen key. That just adjusts the co. Turn the idle screw back to how it was as i'd have thought the person who fitted the engine would have left it set up as it was in the donor car.

but it doesn't change the fact that i need to prime the fuel system 3 times before the car starts and ticks over without cutting out! Prime as in turning the key on and off to work the pump or prime as in flooding it by opening the throttle?

cos that buzzes a lot when i turn the ignition on! Turning the key to prime the pump would suggest you dont have a good amount fuel pressure. The accumilator could be the cause of this. The thing you say that buzzes, you mean the ISV thats next to the dizzy? This part is perhaps the most common for bad idling. Have a go at removing and cleaning in petrol or similar

| cheers lee, it seems to idle fine just sounds like the timing is out a fraction. i'll get a mates timing light to sort this out, that thing just ticks/buzzes when i turn the ignition on.
i'll find out what the accumulator is and have a ganders.

| Look above the drivers side rear axle for the accumilator. | |

| It holds the pressure between the accumilator and the metering head. Like a 1 way gate | |

Fits to the base of the airbox mate, theres a metal valve and a plastic type. 2 wires go to each of them

| just realised that the fuel filter (that sits in th scuttle tray) may not be helping things so i'm going to bring it a bit lower to try to eliminate any air locks. then have a ganders at this acumulator.
wish me luck! | |

| to wet to do what i had hoped to do today, but i still managed to get in the car and rip the dash out, find the correct wires for the lights on the dials and connect them to the correct wire to turn them on and off.
i did find time to have a poke at the dizzy, it did infact appear to be out by about 1.5cm.
the rear fog that i din'nt think worked acctually does.
now i just need to sort out the reversing lights, does anyone know where the switch is for the reversing lights on a standard mk1 gti box?
