I bought it off a mate who had had it parked up for a few years ,as the missus wanted something new to run around in.. It needed a few bits doing to it, like the fuel pump relay as thats the reason it wouldnt start and he had parked it up (result) as the head gasket needed changing.. It flew though the MOT and the guy said the underneath was mint, although i did have to rob my cab (white one)for the suspension ( vipertech -60mm..so you know) and just as i was about to tax it the missus changed her mind...... so i sold it on... I did notice the grill (with the silver sprayed edge, done buy yours truly ) had melted at some point.. I actually lost out on that motor.... bloody women !!!!! well i payed the grand sum of £250 for her. he didn't say how much he payed. how long ago did you sell her?

| Told you it was black..... It's a one year only, all black edition.... although im not sure if it hasnt had a blow over at some point cos it does seem to change colour in the wet... I wont say what he paid but it was a lot more than that... you did good at that price especially with that lump... as long as it's not buggered of course .. must of been some time early last year i sold it....... i think | |

| well, he told me it would need a jump to start.
and when i got home i just popped the + battery terminal on and pumped the throttle a couple of times. turned the key and it started!!!!
even only running on 2 cylinders, i was impressed as the car had not been run for 6-8 months!
sounded rather sweet tho (albeit on 2 cyl)

| You might want to invest in a new in-tank lift pump, when i took it for it's mot i would stutter and have no power when you tried to floor it over 4k Think there around 20-25... Did he put a whole new exhaust system on..or just a back box?? | |

| IN that case you've got a bloody bargain!!!! It looks like he's upgraded the braking system to a 9" servo and 22mm master cylinder, just check the clearance on the rotor cap and that it's fitting properly...could be the problem with the two cylinders... although i cant see it starting at all on only 2 ?? | |

| well i can cleary see that 2+3 are getting the exhausts nice n hot and 1+4 are still cool. Thats why i.ll be swapping the injectors around then hopefully 2+3 will stay cool. There is about 10mm gap between cap n master cyl. New rotor and cap and lead and plugs. With clean contact batween rotor and cap. | |

| Cool, well that's one thing eliminated, have you checked the seals around the injectors? also did he tell you wether he wired it on the orig 8v engine loom or the 16v? When i did my cab to 16v i had an erratic running problem which ended up being the fake 16v ecu management box needed a *cough..whack...cough* and then was fine... but i've read you can run it off the orig 8v loom with a few changes... ...just thinking out loud dude | |

| he's wired it into a 16v mk3 fusebox and original 16v loom. Just chopped the wiring for the lights. Just need to sort the dash out. Nothing works on it. | |

I can imagine that looks a tad messy inside then mate. Would've been better off with an early 16v loom and keep the original fuse panel. No need for splicing so many wire in the can then.

| All i'll say mate, is make sure you carry a fire extinguisher. Shame the dash loom and rear loom have been cut. I could have wired it in properly for you using original fuse board. | |

I could have supplied you with the injection off my truck, injectors, lines and both 50mm inlet parts to replace your 42mm skinny things. Nevermind

It'll improve throttle response. It would be a staight swap.

| funny really, cos my mate has 2x 50mm manifolds like you. but doesn't need them because like you, he is fitting the 16v scirocco manifold!
just waiting for him to get ack to me, do i need both parts of the manifold?

Sorry Lee I dispute this statement, and heres why.... The larger airways in the plenum rungs in the 50mm inlet manifold actually reduce the air pressure thus causing the velocity of the gas to slow down, this actually reduces throttle responce and mid range punch (torque), but on the upside at higher rpm you are able to move a greater volume of gas than before and add more fuel to this greater volume of gas making more power but higher up the rev range. It has been proven many times that 42mm = more mid range torque but asthmatic higher up, 50mm = no mid range guts and more power up top. Its a trade off. What does inprove throttle response is higher fuel pressure and knife edging and polishing the throttle body with a good cold air feed from the wing.

| I neither wrong or right then lol But from my own point of view, i'd rather have the top end punch as mid-range is'nt as bad as what peeps make out. Bigger is'nt always better which i agree but VW did'nt produce them to look good either | |
