My E320 CDi - Black Business Suit

New bolts arrived today, so i was buzzing about the idea of getting the wheels fitted after work tonight, but as is always the way with my plans, they have fallen through...

on the way to meet a new employee, the back of the SL500 started to feel a little weird, the old man and i got out to see this:



and unless someone happens to have a 275/35/20 tyre lying about, the wheels that were meant to be going on my E class tonight, are now going on the SL for the time being:



I also had ANOTHER fail today in the mercs, I had to drive the ML to the garage with the spare wheels in, when i got home and got out, this happened...



So this months Merc fails so far are:

My E 320 hitting a wall, and rust setting in nicely from this g*sh weather

Our CLK 230k gearbox is about to explode

Epic coolant leak in the ML 270

and the SL 500 shredding through a nice nearly new 20" tyre...

They are modern mercs, what more do you expect

true, but only one is mechanical and one build quality, the other two are just rubbish haha!

the SL looks mint on the turbines, i'll post a pic up in the morning!

Looks like the SL and the CLK are being replaced soon though, neither of which are Mercs! (New XKR and Porsche 911 cab hopefully!)

I actually prefer the 18's, just now need to see if those 11's will fit the back of my e class!

sweet, my dads m8 has just got a new xkR and its rather nice other than the old escort aerial

jag have sorted that now, it's in the boot spoiler instead!

my old jag had one of them, i used to love it haha

so, the upside of the old man ripping through one of the 20's, is, while i had a free 15 mins this afternoon, i could fit 2 to the E class and see how we stood clearance wise and stuff, and to be honest, it wasn't that bad!

The bit that surprised me was the rears, they fitted fine with no rubbing or anything - the actual problem at the moment is the front, they are 9's and rub ever so slightly on the control arms, but some 5mm/10mm spaces would fix that! my only other concern is the rubbish, as on full lock, there is less than a fingers width between the arch liners and the wheels, but there's always a way round that!



















what do you guys think? to get them on properly i just need 1 tyre for the one that got shredded and some 8mm 5x112 spacers at the front...

what size tyres are they jimmy?

275/30/20 rear and 245/35/20 front mate.

225s up front should sort the problem m8

is that michael jackson checking your clearance?

i thinnk they look sweet mate you going to have them or put them back on the other merc?

well i think they look better on mine obviously, but i'll have to see what the old man says, either way i'll have one of the sets on!

Just ordered some spacers that should be here by the weekend along with the new rear tyre, probably get on to smaller front tyres at the end of the month, but we'll see how it goes before spending that kind of money!

If theres clearance at the front jimmy then dont worry bout it too much, even if its only a fingers width, clearance is clearance at the end of the day. you just need that sorta arch gap next

spacers should arrive on monday, longer bolts are waiting in the shed, and the 20's will go on as son as my new tyre arrives!

not quite sure why, but for some reason this car is making me depressed at the moment, so im thinking about fixing the little bits and putting it up for sale...

anyone know anyone that would want one - or someone with a convertible to swap?

ignore the above (for now) just ordered my nice shiny new 20" tyres, for delivery tomorrow... new wheels are going on on Thursday, this could make or break my decision to keep the car!

new tyre arrived today, and being fitted tomorrow! should have them all on by sun down tomorrow (as long as my 5mm spacers do the job when i test fit the fronts tonight!)
