| hey, im new to the site. i've got a mk2 8v gti and have just been offered a m3 8v gti for 50 squid!!! its been sitting in his garage for a year but he tells me he never drained the oil. i used to work in a garage and can do the swap myself. i've replaced engines quite a few time but have never put a different engine in to the one that came out!! the bloke tells me it has all the wiring looms and when it was fitted it was a really good engine! i just want to no if there are any problems with swapping them over or is it straight forward? any advice is much appreciete... ta | |

| Just use the mk3 2L bottom end mate.
Swap your mk2 head onto it along with the rest of the gubbins | |

| its coming with the head on it. thinking it will b quicker to leave it alone. i also want to recon the mk2 engine | |

| The head on your mk2 is better flowing mate.
It'll be easier if you just swap bottom ends anyway because you can use your original fueling and loom.
The mk3 engine is a tall block so you'll need to make a spacer(16.5 or there abouts) to go between your exhaust manifold and downpipe. | |
