| took a couple days off this week from work so have a 4 day weekend, hoping to get a fair bit done aslong as the weather isnt too nippy. me and dan been throwing some idaes on how to lose the top mount bolts and this is what we come up with, had to grind most of one side off as i didnt quite fit, never seen this done before but i could be wrong! anyways will let the pics do the rest of the talking....... weld through primer bare metaled the inside of the turret then weld through primer'd that up top mount holes drilled out bigger for more weldy gooness, also bare metaled the insides in the process obviously cleamped in place welded and ground up zinc primer and first skim then used seam sealer to seal around the edges, no dampness will be getting in or out now, will hopeful;y get the hole inner wing smooooooooooooth stone chipped soon too after i drilled all the loom holes etc and welded in couple more brackets. i like working in a mess too lol also picked this up last weekend, started to get all the injection crapola off ready for my carbs, 2 bolts rounded off so gonna sort that out tomo all comments welcome guys so fire away, thanks for looking | |

got it off one of mikes mates mate, 2L 8v from a mk3 You know that its a tall block dont ya?, dont believe there's an off the shelf shiney stainless manifold so you'd have to get 1 made. You can use mk1 golf gti original exhaust manifold and downpipe with a spacer for a gasket but that wont look nice in your clean bay. Also, the mk2 golf gti PB code head is better flowing than the head from the 2E code engine. I guess you'll go for a crossflow head though Just gimme a shout if you wanna chat about it in more detail bud as i did 2E/PB conversion to my first caddy. Will go lovely with ya carbs | |
