| allo all,im tinkering with me brother in laws 1992 golf mk2 8v Gti at the mo.trying to sort the handbrake cos its cack, the cables are maxed out on their adjustment, you can feel on the drivers side that the cable is slightly moving but its barely moving the pivot on the caliper.ive heard that mk4 calipers are a good upgrade, can anyone shed anymore light on this?is it a straight forward conversion?cheers,Joe | |

| Bin the cables they're normally cack. Get hold of some mk3 calipers if you don't want to have to change out the the rear flexi pipe to a banjo one.
The calipers can be serviced but don't bother if you don't have the know how or tools.
It is unusual to find a mk2 with a decent hand brake. | |

| Mk3 calipers bolt straight on, same carriers, same cables, same pads etc. Make sure you get the later version with the internal handbrake mechanism though as the early ones are just mk2 calipers anyway. I recently picked up a pair on ebay for £62 delivered, the sellers ID was gb4634

| The obvious difference between mk2 and mk3 calipers is the position of the handbrake mechanism , mk2 its on the top mk3 its on the side. | |
