| too be honest i aint done a lot interesting things lately, just been doing bits like painting rusty calipers and brackets, wishbones, rear drums. Nothing thats interesting to look at in the pictures anyhow. Dean are you going to ultimate dubs? If you are you could probably jump in with me as i will take the mk4 down there. | |

| Over the last couple weeks i have started replacing brake lines with nice new shiny coppper ones (although i don't really like the look of clean copper). Have fitted all new gearlinkage bushes and new links and although i have yet too drive the car it feels a lot better in the driveway. Yesterday i fitted one of my new febi top mounts and will hopefully do the other side after work tomorrow evening as it is lighter for longer now in the evenings . This is old top mount This is the nice new clean mount | |

| Not a huge amount of progress has been made recently but I have now started removing an ABF (2.0l 16v) engine from an ibiza which will hopefully be rebuilt and tuned over the winter and hopefully be in and running by the start of the next show season with the help of a couple kind fellow club members. Can't wait til its in and running and showing up them 3dr valvers lol | |

| The ABF is now removed and sitting in my lock-up. It is awaiting for me to start cleaning it up and painting bits to make it look more respectable. Will post up some pics as i go along.
But before i can start working on it i need to have a clearout in my lock-up to make room for me to move around without walking into everything lol.
I can't decide what sort of colour scheme to go in the bay, possibly think colour coded green rocker cover with gold and chrome/polished detailing. Anybody got any input into what would look good.

| The first thing i had to do was start on the rocker cover lol. A pic so far in primer but cant decide what colour to go, was originally gona go gold with polished strips but after spraying with primer i like the matt finish against the polished strips. | |

| The crane isn't going to be needed for a while as its not going in till spring time next year. I'm going to spend the winter playing around and sourcing parts I need.
But to answer ya question I have a friend to doors down who has a beast of a crane lol.

| Am hoping to do it around the spring time so hopefully running in time to take to some of shows next year to save the miles on the R32 as there racking up very quickly. Am deciding whether to have cylinder race tuned, have found this dude on ebay might send head off to him to work his magic. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250700856767&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:ITUnless anyone knows of any other good tuning companies that can do head work. | |

| I'm not heard of any of his work either but like lee said the pic looks good and if he studied that sort of thing at university and done as many as he say then he must be fairly good.
From your experience what do you guys reckon I should have done? I want a good amount of power but still want to stay fairly reliable.

| As i have had no luck in the last year of finding a pair of genuine VW wings in good nick i have decided to repair the pair i have on the car atm. I am at the moment starting on the drivers side wing, ive cut out the rotten bottom section and used the good part of another drivers side genuine wing and had that welded in. Welding was done by the son in law of a work friend who has his own workshop and enjoys metalworking as a hobby and am very pleased with the outcome. | |

| Wow, good work!
Depends if you want crazy power then dude, stick with stock internals like mine if you need reliability, otherwise; head work, cams etc and work the motor to it's breaking point :-) if you have the cheese to spend on mods like these go for it I say but a 4 branch and nice zaust was my choice.
Remember that you will have to start beefing everthing else up to. Gearbox may not handle the power or like me your clutch will give up FAST! Helix = $$$

| Have been doing a little bit of research on gearboxes and am not deffo what sure which one to use. I read that the 2Y will just struggle to cope anything over 200BHP, which is what i would like to aim for | |

| Yeah mate, its the diff pins. If you fit a quaife or replace the pins with bolts they should handle the magic 200.... | |
