Engine management reading...thermostat sensor!!

hii could anyone tell me if the sensor is a common thing on vw's recently i had the water coolent all new due to the fan breaking and causing car to over heat..and now the engine managements come up sayin thermostat sensor fault :S could this be due to over heating previous?

yeah more than likely, its common on mk4 golf's if thats what you have!

piece of p**s and i think they are about £15 -£20 ish not to sure! make sure you get a seal as well though

bout £20 delivered from gsf get the green one though the blue ones are the early ones that are s**t. Plastic engine cover off. it to the right at the top, remove the clip and change

oh yeah do it when its cold otherwise it fooking hurts! and get some extra coolant just in case and make sure you get the old seal out as well!
