| Finally got my car up on the ramps at my mates work to reinforce the subframe. here was the damage before we started(sorry for the s**t pics i only had my phone on me). During I didn't manage to get an after pics but pretty much we welded some 1/4 steel plate along the bottom arm mount, fixed a hole i had scrapped in the exhaust and fixed the dogbone mount. The dog bone had been running with one of the possible 2 bolts because one of them decided to get pulled out, taking the thread with it, so we rethreaded thw whole and stuck a new bolt it. No more down shift knocknig for me! | |

| I dun goofed up! Whilst trolling the classifieds I came across a set of BMW wheels that I thought were fully sick and where within my price range. Long story short I'm driving up to Grimsby on Saturday to collect my new "winters". As the saying goes a picture says a thousand words, so here's 3000 words for you. They are 17x8 Et20 BMW ClubSport 2 piece from a E39 5-series sporting 215/45s, a bit big for my liking but I'll run them until they die and then put some 205/40 on them. I'm going to get in contact with the guy who made up my adaptors this week to get a new set for these so fingers crossed they should be on early November. | |

| Did a little bit of a write up for edition so instead of writing everything out twice I might as well just copy and paste it on here. -------------------------------------------- So here I am, slap bang in the centre of Cambridge just pulling into a road to park for a night of fun and catching up with a mate I haven’t seen in ages. Everything goes as usual, indicate, drop to first, dodge the kamikaze cyclist and turn. Next thing I know there's a Hiroshima sized bang and I'm confronted by face high empty tea cups as the front of my car leaps a foot into the air followed by the savage yet familiar sound of metal vs. tarmac. I nurse my car to the curb and jump out anxiously to see what the damage is. A quick turn of the wheels and its apparent, I've bent the sub frame downwards bringing the driveshaft, bottom arm and steering arm with it. It's going to be a long night. A few phone calls later and I've now got a four man team trying to figure out the best way to get the bruised and broken Mk4 home. After a long brain storming session and a cup of tea we decide our best bet is to raise the coil over and attempted to get it on a low loader, easy in theory but not so easy in practice. Due to the nature of the bend the bottom arm is now facing backwards and is jammed in position making the possibility of raising the ride height close to none. But then genius strikes! Why not just jump on it and move it millimetre at a time? After 20 minutes of kicking, pushing and much head scratching the car is now back on its wheels and ready to move, sort of. The sub frame is still kissing the tarmac but only by a few millimetres giving us the ability to move it with the only downfall being some horrendous sounds. Skip forwards an hour and my mates MX-5 returns with a fresh batch of tea shortly followed by the low loader of my dreams. Blocks of wood, a big electric winch and a driver who doesn't hate modified cars, could there be a better AA call out? After some friendly banter and a lot a scraping the 4 was on the back of the loader and homeward bound (but with less porcupine encounters). This ends my epic tale that was my Monday night, but I doubt I'll be forgetting it any time soon. Pics or it didn't happen i hear you say? Very well... Waiting around. Wait, shouldn't that be flat? Hmm that doesn't look too good. The instigator of all my troubles Homeward bound | |

| Harvey road is where I park when we go out in Cambridge. Pics look bad. Can't all the sub frame, etc be swapped over or has it wrecked everything? | |

Pics look bad. Can't all the sub frame, etc be swapped over or has it wrecked everything? It's wrecked most of the underneath; steering arm/rack, bottom arm, subframe and possibly the drive shaft. That's if it hasn't bent the chassis too which is more then likely. | |

| Max, what would you say if I said that your car will almost certainly that will go again.
New subby and lower arm and your in like flynn, I bet you my bollocks at a barn dance, I'll even offer to do it for you, (normal rates apply) Reinforcing the sub-frame while we are at it. I have an engine support we can hang it on and then just whip it off and swapsy. The rack may have bent/squished the tca but a new one will see that right.
There are subframes on ebay for £40 and a tca is only about £20. A bit of reinforcing and a couple of arms at £30 a side and you're ready to go mate.
What are you waiting for?
As a side note Max, It really does take an awfull lot to bend a chassis, and the fact that it jumped rather than imbedded itself into the manhole cover means theres a 95% chance its good as.
But I do feel your pain, good pics though.
you have my number.
