im confused with this me mk4 20vt doesnt heat up fully obviously new stat needed probs sticky or crudded up but im still seeing 386miles from the tank and averaging 35-42mpg now surly if its not heating up fully the choke would be sticking open to allow more fuel threw for a cold engine

oh n the temp im gettin is just below 70 any suggestion would be good

mines doing the same mate its the colder air i think meaning a more rich mixture of fuel being used. In fitting a new thermostat to mine.

sure your not just used to it always being at that temperature? there isnt a huge difference in the fuel mix between the temps its getting to and the temp it should be at but if you put a new stat in it will most likely do more to the gallon.

should sit at 90+ whatever the weather mate thats what the thermostat is for, maintaining the temperature. New stat for sure
