| when i start the Caddy from cold the belt squils like a pig for about 15 mins, it's startin to pi$$ the neighbours off and gets me plenty of looks in town. Is it just a case of slacking the alternator bolt and re-tension..???....how much tension should it have and what's the best way of checking, dont wanna bust my bearings | |

| Sure it's the belt & not the pump?
If not, just slacken it off a little bit, or spray some wd40 into the groove in the alternator pulley while the engine is running. Should make things a bit quieter.

While this does work, its better to clean it all off with brake/carb cleaner as this will make it grippier. Talcom powder works well too. Tension to where you think its safe to really, just enough to stop the squealing. Trial and error really. A clean belt is better in the long run.
