'reet lads!

I need to change my gearbox cos it's fooked. found a few potential replacements but whats the mothod for removal? do I need to support the engine with anything before I unbolt the 'box?

Get the sump on a trolley jack cause you will need to raise/lower and generally fanny about with the engine height to get the box out.

does a mk3 8v 'box definately fit a mk2 valver? i quite like the thought of a taller fifth:bball:

dunno about the mk3 input shaft but usually 16v and 8vs use a different number of splines on the clutch so you would most likely need another clutch too.

Mk3 gti box will fit, you'll just need the clutch plate aswell gary

you can fit the mk3 8v box straight on i think, think the mk3 uses the larger input (same as the 16v) would be worth double checking its been a while! if it doesnt go, just get the mk3 8v clutch plate and will def fit then!
