Nope GTi from the factory, last owner completely de-GTid it so it looked like a standard CL. Bit of a sleeper that way.

Suprises many people haha, and even a couple of valvers, most valvers are well and truely knackered by now, they aren't a very good engine really.

well, my old driveshaft was clicking and rumbling because the cv boot had split and the CV had dried up so i though i would change it today while emma was working down the shed..... Change it.... All good.. Drive emma home and the foooookin CV on the new shaft exploded and i lost all drive so i had to be towed home.. BRILLIANT.. so i have to get another driveshaft from my friend ben tomorrow and change it again.

NOT happy at all.

yeah i wasnt really disputing that the valvers aren't good cars im just not a fan of the engines really. I mean they are like 30bhp over an 8v so they bloody should spit them out lol.

i only used to be interested in valvers but then bought a ratty 8v to get about in. that was the best £350 i have ever spent in my life, thses days i dont care what engine a mk2 gti got when i go look at it, if i like it i have it

both engines are completely different, as we all know, but theres always alot of hate between 1 another, some say 1s better than the other i say there both as good as each other.

on the bhp and power front, my 8v fends valvers off upto bout 125 then they got that extra bit left

Righty, got my back wheels all done now and i bloody love them.. Notched the legs cause the steering arms were hitting and the body was basically sitting on the steering rack, found out what the rumbling noise was on right hand corners, the driveshaft was also hitting the leg so thats been notched out as well now.. So the front has come down a little bit more now its not resting on anything.
