unsure on the gti but i no the deisel one had the cut out in the top left for the pipe that goes through the cardboard flappy bit in the bay then into the intake. just cant find a minty fresh standard one project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 32 11737

been doing lots of little jobs on the caddy for the last couple weeks to make yesterdays progress happen, was good to have a hand from dad again as he rolled the metal rings for me as i wasnt strong enough lol progres should be pretty self explanitory. pictures may make it look an easy thing to do but ive been pulling my hair out for two weeks working out how to route oil lines and cutting holes etc

right so, metal rings rolled from 10mm wide flat strips, shot blasted then welded and smoothed in. these support the oil lines when there in the truck, the rings had to be much bigger than the line itself in order to get the big metal fixings that go onto the cooler through.
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 32 DSC_0783
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 32 DSC_0784
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 32 DSC_0785
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 32 DSC_0786

finished my oil cooler off last week, got the brackets finished welded and rubber it down and painted it satting black to match the hoses and fixings. oil lines test fitted, cut down to lenth and fixings added on the ends
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 32 DSC_0789
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 32 DSC_0791

then finaly got the rad finished, stayed last a couple nights at work and polished it, first time with out the top and bottom cover on with card board over the core, then had the top and bottom weled on then re cut and buffed the weld hase out. then complete clean down with thinners. still got a couple bits to put on it and straighten some of the core fins back out from where i had it in and out the truck so much and knocked it a bit

oil lines back in with all fixings on, ran through the rings pictured above to support them and help keep the curves flowing

radiator back in, boom boom pow all line hidden again nice and neat
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 32 DSC_0811

new classic black samco bends, i have 3 for the top hose and more ideas how to make it neat and one for the temp gauge and a bracing point. more to coe on this over the next couple weeks

cant get this one to flip round!!! if you look closely you can just see the oil lines tuck down and under into the cross member, really chuffed how they turned out. first plan was to run the lines parrarell but that couldnt work and the lines are to touch and stiff and the bends didnt flow to well and go through the chasis cross member well either.

cheers man, yeh its the single one. as im not having a hyrdo clutch and cable change box i dont need the bigger version most use. never seen anyone try to use one so hope to sort some sort of guide to help others, think its a bit gay that no one lets on or shows how they do things in the scene! ive asked for many pictures of other premade pedal boxes off edition38 but no one would send me them incase i put them into mass production and made several millions. i have all the res' pots and hoses to get it all in. will put up detailed pics up after i no what im doing my self! dont want to get it all exiting then nothing happen for a while

yeh man anytime, bring the lot, 18s ftw project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 32 Icon_geek

bit of a start on teh box front, box slides over the wilwood set up, 4 M8 mounting points, retapped the 4 top ones to M6. top mounting point will be a pivot to i can have the pedals at a few different heights. well thats the plan at the moment anyway. its just resting together in the picture. once i no it fits in the car it will all be seam welded at work.
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 32 DSC_0233

also cheekily used a threaded stainless piece we use with cosworth turbo dampers we make at work, for my top mounting pivot point, m8 threaded.
project--rustowagen mk1 caddy - Page 32 DSC_0234

and got these to help it stop too...
