PostSubject: bike carbs on my ABF   bike carbs on my ABF EmptySun Aug 28 2011, 07:52

thinking about this, pretty much to get rid of all the mess in my engine bay.

i know theres a few of you mk1 boys running bike carbs, so can you point me in the right direction of what i need i.e what bike carbs should i look for???

does it need to be a big bike like a 1000cc and above or would carbs from a 600cc do the job?

is it easier to use the fuel pump from the bike? i have heard somewhere that a bike pump doesnt waste as much fuel, as they stop pumping when the carb is full? (that might be a load of b0ll0cks)

then theres the jet sizes????

im sure theres loads more to think about to

any pointers?????

thanks
Ben

Go for carbs off a 1000cc bike ben. They'll have larger ports than those of a 600 etc.

Set ups on zx9r and R1 carbs differ slightly so best to see what carbs you get and go from there.
I'd run a facet red top pump and filter king fpr tbh as I don't think the bike pump will last due to the extra work it'll be doing on a car.

I can possibly get you an inlet made to match your carbs cheaper than what bogg bros charge. You wont need postage either.

Me and si can also convert and set your carbs up if you wish

i highly rate the bike fuel pumps. When i had the zx7r setup on my xr2 the bike fuel pump was fantastic. And i wouldn't say it works any harder on a car than it does a bike. Very compact and shut themselves off.

No probs ben

Find me some carbs and I'll see if I can get you an inlet matched to them. You'll also need a modified head water flange due to the depth of the carbs. You'll see mine at the weekend
