Cheers man. Yeah, didn't want to run them before the 25mm spacers turn up but couldn't resist. Should look nice and flush once they turn up. - curtis_caddy wrote:

Cheers mate! BMW OEM wheels compliment the E36 shape so well. Didn't want to go too lairy/"look at me" so thought i'd best keep it clean. Not a major fan of how the face colour has come out (thought it was gonna be darker from the powdercoat chart) but works well in the right light. - bridgedubber wrote:

Thanks man, it's taken a while but it's getting there. Have to say, your Mk2 is outstanding! Love the sharpness of it.

| Got bored this afternoon and gave Jimmy a shout. Nothing to do, so we decided to get a few snaps down the road from his house. Here's one of them...

Love the ambers on all corners . Yeah man, you're by all means welcome! It does look nice in the flesh (well, I will say that) but the pics I've put up have been p'shopped. Only with contrast/saturation/exposure settings adjusted, but obviously the pics exaggerate the extremities. - matty_mk1 wrote:

Cheers Matty! Should be picking some 25mm's up this week. Hopefully that'll pull the wheels to the edge enough for DC.

| A few more pics from the lot I took with Jim at the weekend... Now it's at the right height, and I've got my splits on i'm pretty happy. Just need to pick my spacers up this week and replace the standard side skirts with these... Sorry for the bad iPhone pic. M3 twisted side skirts. I thought as the front looks aggresive I may as well give these a go on the sides. They're a bit Marmite, but I got them super-cheap and willing to give them a go. Should have them fitted this week. | |

Spot-on mate. Skirts are on now and look so much better. Did look into spoilers a while back but never got anywhere with them. Do you mean the little lip things like the E39 M5? Like this?...

Cheers for the positive comments guys. Pretty happy with how it is overall at the moment. Just a few tweaks here and there for the rest of the show season really. - whittle wrote:

yea i agree, these look way better with out spoilers imo Don't worry, I won't be putting a spoiler on it. Lip spoilers do look good on some colours like the one above, but don't think it'd work on my car. The only spoilers i'd want to put on would be one of the mahoosive LTW GT spoilers from the M3 Evo (shopping trolley style), or an AC Schnitzer Type 2, 3 piece spoiler. The latter being super expensive and stupidly rare. £300 for 3 pieces of plastic. Right...

| I've had the last couple of weeks off work as i'm now unemployed (change of scene needed). Got a new job starting on Monday the 13th so thought i'd make use of the time and tinker with the car. Picked up some 25mm spacers last week. Fitted them to the rear, but there's still a bit of room to play with. Looks good but i'm being pedantic. So i'll try the 25mm's on the front and pick up some 30mm's for the rear instead. Should sit nicely then. Got irritated that my iPod now takes up my sunglasses holder so decided to mount it somewhere. I don't use the ashtray so i've made a ghetto holder out of some spare wood laying around, which bolts in to where the ashtray would sit. Just waiting for the Alcantara to turn up then I'll cover it (should look really good at that point). This is "Ghetto-Pod MK2". MK1 was erm... interesting. For the time being it looks like this... It works which is the main thing. I was inspired by Mr Ford pointing out a similar iPod holder in someone elses E36. Makes a change to just sticking it in the glovebox I guess! Today I thought it was about time that I did something that NEEDED to be done. The only 2 things that kick off my OCD when i'm driving are my lack of wheel alignment (i'll get it done soon), and the purple parcel shelf. As I don't have any kit to do alignment, I thought i'd get started with the shelf as I had a couple of hours to kill before meeting up with my new boss to sort out contract & paperwork etc. Anyway, I've done this with the last BMW so knew what to do and what a pain in the arse it is. All in it took around an hour. Pretty f***ing good considering the awful process of removing it. It's only thick cardboard with cloth, but here's where the b*****d fought back... (it's deeper than it looks) And here you can see the state it was in. I know they all end up like this, but that purple was laughing at me every time I looked in the rear-view. So yeah, got it all fitted and looks much better. It's been 6 hours since finishing and the car still has the windows open to get rid of the aerosol smell. Went for a drive earlier but felt a bit woozy from the fumes, so think i'll leave it alone for today. And went for a little drive down to Bluewater with the RollHard guys on Saturday Night. Didn't know any of them but had nothing to do that evening. Went down there with Jay and someone kindly took a rolling shot. Pretty pleased, but the fronts definitely need more spacing and dropping down 5/10mm... Then on the way home, both rear topmounts bust and the shocks were dangling out due to some f***ing idiot not mending the road properly coming out of the Dartford Tunnel. So that meant the ride home was rather bouncy. Ah well, got it sorted on Sunday morning (again, something I learnt from the 318...) so all good now. Next stop, custom BBS centre-caps and a wheel alignment. Progress is progress I guess. | |

| So no real updates at the moment. Started my new job this week and money is pretty tight as i've been out of work for a month (In which time my jobsekeers allowance never turned up. Waste of time and effort that was) so no real mods to the car. Currently waiting for my 25mm spacers to turn up for the front wheels, and the 5mm for the rears. Hopefully they'll be waiting for me at home, so they can go on for DC this weekend. That should bring the stance out as far as possible without any arch-rolling (for the time being) or scrubbing problems. Lost a bit of faith in the BBS at the moment though, as they are quite common on E36's, as well as Mk4's/Mk3's/E46's etc. So yeah, after all the hassle and work that's gone into them, they are up for sale/swaps/part-ex for a different set. Shame really, but just not doing it for me. Been offered some 17" MIM's, and love the style of them but need to hear back from the bloke about width and ET specs. Shame they don't have much dish to them, but they remind me of a 1 piece OZ Futura/Stern splits (and I f***ing love Futura's!). Here's a couple of pics... They've got a little kurbing, so I would expect part-ex and cash my way. Then use the extra cash and get them refurbed. I reckon they'd look pretty sick Powdercoated Chrome (*cough Joe cough*). So yeah, once refurbed I can run them at the rest of the shows this year after DC. Anyone else reckon it's a bad/good idea? Definitely a different look! | |
