Worthersee 2011, NurburgRing and More.....

UPDATE:

I have emailed the Nurburgring to find out what dates we can run a week before and after Worthersee. When I get a reply I will update again and we can start to arrange everything else

No reply from the ring so I have emailed them 3 times again!

Anyone thought of where else to stop on way/back?

Frankfert and eat sausages wheres the wolfsburg factory with the museum dont have a clue whats there man ?

hahaha good1 Matty, yeah Phil its in Wolfsburg which is in northern Germany so serious mileage on top unfortunately.

Maybe do that another time with the ring...

I know its in wolfsburg man im just saying i dont know what there is to see over there.

Its a good day and a bit to see everything

When I went we got there early did the factory stuff including a production line tour and a quick trip up the towers. They also have a history of the motorcar museum along with sections for each brand such as Audi, Bentley etc. They move stuff around so when I was there they had a W12 Toureg and the Bentley Le-Mans car here is the website

Then the next day before heading of we visited the VW museum which is down the road from the factory and has all the random concept cars, one offs and cool stuff that might not be all new and shiney but was a lot more interesting , and for 6 Euros a bargin! This looks to of gotten taken over by VW or had some cash pushed into it as the stands etc are all new. When I was there it had stuff like the twin engined mk2 and firs rallye along with air cooled stuff to.

I now have a new sat nav with europe maps and also a drinks cooler which works off my fag lighter. Should come in handy.


Thinking about walkie talkies too, that way we can keep in touch with whomevers at the rear of the convoy going.

walike talkies are an essential on a trip like this, there brilliant for banter between each other along the way and there easier than phoning each other.


ps if you see a bloke on a white R1 going round the ring, prepare to get overtaken!!!

Very true, we stayed with him at a B&B and he held/holds the unofficial lap record, top bloke and very quick on a bike!!

Good call on walkie talkies, have been thinking the same, can get a pair off eBay for £30 but not sure on range/quality of these???

just thought i'd put a couple of pics up from last year, its a fantastic event and its in a fantastic location.. makes you have a different view of english shows though.

its when you realise that mk1 and 2 3 door jetta's are common and that its going to be great day
also the place to go is Velden ( thats where the shell garage is )

OK found out there is ROCK AM on at the ring from 3rd-5th June http://rockamring.co.uk/ so unless we go after we will have to go before Worthersee. I'm not sure how accurate the below calendar is but should give us something to work with:

I need to book my holiday off work this month so trying to work out dates now....

Me thinks, drive to nurburg from blighty on the 28th. Hotel for 2 nights

The 28th has a race on but we'll not be in the frame of mind for having a blast anyway. The 29th is free for us to go round the ring .

We then drive to our hotel in worthersee in the morning as we wont be able to check in til later in the day anyway.


On trip back, we'll stop in Munich? Me and gem have been there so we'll remember some of the area and also where the Rock cafe is

Nice one Lee, so we need to book two nights at a hotel near Nurburgring for 28th and 29th? We may struggle as there's a race on but will have a look now. Can book Ferry too for early hours of 28th?

Where did you see free on Sundays?

Good call on Munich, I have only seen the Airport... How many days do you want to take coming back from Worthersee? Could spend a couple of days in Munich and couple somewhere else? Would be cool too see one of the German castles especially if we can get close with the MK1's for some photo action....

Think I'll book my holiday from Friday 27th - Friday 10th and a long weekend Friday 13th - Monday 16th May for last minute work on MK1 if needed....

Going on the calender mate. The 29th looks to be free for us to do the ring
