HI<

I am fitting a mk3 gti subframe on the the mk2, i i have heard the mk3 shocks fit the mk2 but with the mk2 strut tops? is that right.

But will the mk2 struts fit the mk3 hubs?

also i want to keep 4 stud so will fit the mk2 rear discs but on the front how do i keep 4 stud, what hubs and discs do i need? I have some mk2 gti hubs is this ok? and g60 discs? but i heard the ofset of the mk2 disc is different to mk3

1, mk2 and mk3 shocks are completely interchangable.

2,yes they fit.

3, mk2 hubs dont fit mk3 arms unless you change the bottom ball joints.and no good to you unless you have 16v hubs and you intend to put 280 discs on.

4, use mk3 hubs and fit mk2 flanges.

5, rear discs use mk2 four stud ones.

6, offset on mk2 and mk3 are the same, use mk2/corrado g60 discs.

7, you may have to use mk2 top mounts instead of mk3 ones.

so to sumise, its all pretty much interchangable, use four stud flanges in the 5 stud hubs, use four stud discs front and rear. Problems then give me a call and I'll put you right.

Thanks AGAIN LOL

I will use the complete mk3 subby including drive shafts.

Does it matter what flanges i use, 8v or 16v as i have some 8v ones, by flange i mean (Hub) pressed into mk3 bearings and hub carrier.

If this is correct ill order some g60 discs then im sorted.

I would check that the flanges you have fit over the end of the driveshaft on the splines before pressing them into the bearings as the bearing will be bin fodder if you have to press them out.

8 or 16v flanges are the same as far as I'm aware.

i have taken the mk3 flanges out now, and the mk2 have a different size spline, but other than that all dimensions on mk2 and mk3 flanges match, so i now have 4 stud, i just need to fit the mk2 cv outer joints, SORTED!!!!!

To add you need to fit mk3 discs as the mk2 offset is wrong! ill try to add a pic later, this does mean that you have to redrill the mk3 discs though. then job done, if you want anymore info let me know.
