Yeah i didnt make it to searles in the end worked late and well that sprinter won't fit on any of our ramps. I didnt think i was going to make it to yours with the clutch, was slipping like mad if you gave it the tiniest bit of throttle.

Still waiting for parts to arrive at the moment..

Head has been skimmed, tested ect. Have a headset and new headbolts. Just pistons and conrods to wait for then hone the bores a little and fit it all back together

Hmmm slight change of plan with this now .. finally got everything back in my workshop. And things should hopefully start to move along, although very slowly

Yesterdays little job strip the valves from the head. Got all the exhaust valves out but my spring compressor doesn't fit the smaller valve springs so going to make one at the weekend that does fit and then continue...

in the mean time, an oily biscuit tin full of valves

did you realy need a spring compressor that size?

bet you could change lorry valves with that fucker!

Its the only one i have! Is the trouble with using the farms workshop gear, most stuff slighty over sized

I wasnt planning to, but atleast this way ill know what the engine will be like. Bit of risk buying a second hand one and reconditioned ones are too much money

The old girl is looking a bit sorry for itself now hasnt been washed since this happend and its quite a dusty place i ought to get a cover for it really

Oh it will be fine. Its not 'real' dust.. theres a feed mill in the next barn so its just dust from that. Its a really soft fine dust (similar to flour), you could probably use a soft brush and get it all off dry without leaving a scratch.. but when i do wash it it will be done properly.

It had a good thick coat of pollish before going in aswell so that will help.

Managed to bodge an adaptor for my industrial size compressor so i can remove the smaller of the 20 valves from the head.. nice bit of steel pipe with some slots cut in and a 17mm nut welded in the end does the job..





So i won't need to borrow your compressor now chris, thanks for the offer to though

And.. im just about to order a set of these

no worries mate offer still hands for putting it back together though...
