| Talking of G40's how about a turboed G40 engine - easily make 180PS with a few choice mods, nice lightweight block but a bit of a pain to fit and the wiring would be a nightmare but its something to think about it. | |

| I have no idea why youd replace a relitively modern engine with such an old 1 (although a good engine). | |

| Personally I think you need more of an idea of what you want out of the car. The AFH, although a half decent engine is still only producing 100bhp and if you're after more power it doesn't really matter how old the engine is that's producing the extra power. The AFH is not really suitable for forced induction unless you're going to fork out for some decent rods. And that doesn't take into account the fact that the gearboxes are far from ideal in terms of strength. My 2p anyway. | |

| BOB.... My mate is running a BAM in his mk4 polo and is one of the hardest conversions to do.!! Its silly quick and been re-mapped to near 300whp and scares the livin day lights outa me, Even the golf ive got with the AUM tweaked to near 250bhp and is a propa handfull in the dry (when running right) Poss best bet is have a word with stormdevelopments as they did a 16v polo with the Eaton45 running just over 200bhp a while ago and they could point you in the right direction. | |

Why take a classic characterful engine which by your own admission are becoming scarse and then split it up?

Oh because you can't put it back at all is what you are saying? I love my G lader but I know its not the right way to go in terms of reliabilty and power.

| Oh yea I agree theres a limit to what they can achieve but I think in stripping it down your only after the low compression block anyway, which can be achieved on any engine with a set of pistons or a couple of head gaskets.
It's just my opinion that g40/60's should be left complete, it's all about the noise, power and the fact of saying "Yea mate, G60" lol, not "Yea it's a G60 engine but I took the supercharger off, strapped a turbo on it and sold the charger on ebay..." Bang, one less proper G60 on the road.
Just my opinion lol | |
