| I know this.
However I dont want any more gaping holes in the engine, and the box with no pipe running from it would look silly.

dont run it. Are you serious? With a carb engine you can barely drive the car in the winter without one as they just freeze up. Similar problem with single point injection but not half as bad as there is no venturi as such to create a pressure difference like on a carburettor. It is there to keep the inlet tract warm so the fuel stays atomised correctly, usually only low-mid range as they have a vacuum operated diaphram which opens in the mid-high range to allow the colder air in for better performance etc so there will be more oxygen in the denser air higher in the revs when you need to burn the mix quicker. On a standard car i wouldnt contemplate running without one as having one will increase your MPG and your car should run a lot better. For multi point injection and twin carb setups it is not needed as such. To really see the effect working well try running a beetle engine on the original single carb without the warm air intake you can see the ice forming on the inlet even in the summer so much that there is actually enough to scrape off and they run like crap! Put a warm air hose on and there is no ice and it runs much better. Sorry for the long post but trying to explain it the best i can. If it wasnt needed, do you think VW would have fitted it? They could have increased their profit a bit if they didnt have them

If it wasnt needed, do you think VW would have fitted it? They could have increased their profit a bit if they didnt have them that is all true, and if we lived in scandinavia or somewhere cold it would be much more relevant. im not going to tread on your toes tiz, as everything you just said there is all valid and true (for once) but ive run cars all year round without it and had no problems

| You would have had minor problems you wasn't aware of like i say though with injection it doesnt have as much of an impact but i can definately tell the difference edit: Oh and my statement about the anti rollbar not "holding the wheels straight" or whatever you said it is still true also | |
