8v power....? Empty
PostSubject: 8v power....?   8v power....? EmptySun Mar 14 2010, 11:05

Ive just purchased a mk3 2ltr 8v gti and im trying to crank the power up a tad. Ive got a full stainless system and a induction kit sorted. Just wondering if anyone can give a few pointers on how to get the best power or a few tweaks to gain a bit of power?

Any suggestions or tips welcome 8v power....? 460227

thanks matt

four branch, de-cat pipe, higher fuel pressure regulator, flow/port the head, lightened and balanced flywheel and knife edge the throttle body.

All of these things will help you in your gain for power, some more than others but they all add up.

8 valves arent measured in power, only scales of awsome.

i found on my mk3 gti with a decat i lost quite a lot of torque and it used quite a bit more fuel, i could stand it for 3 days and i had to put the cat back on. They aren't slow as they are just give it a good service, renew some sensors etc clean the maf out etc make sure its running to a good standard and that will probably increase the power from where it is now and your MPG will be better too. No point doing mods to an engine that isnt running to its optimum condition anyway... Also with the advanced timing thing im pretty sure that will only advance the base timing as the rest is controlled by the ECU

Cheers for the ideas 8v power....? Icon_biggrin! they are all helpfull. it should be pretty easy to work on as she is completly standard through out so good start. i find that its pretty quick as it is but so many people seem to 'dis' the 8v's.

Just after a few tweaks to suprise a few of these vtr owners as the 115 bph might just not be enough 8v power....? Lol

Had a look at a Kent sport fast road cam kit and its looking a 8v power....? Icon_rr option
