was looking at getting a roof rack for my golf, does anyone know if a special bracket is needed for a mk2 as the guttering is not the same as most cars?

i have an old skool Paddy Hopkirk roof rack that used to be on my Sierra Sapphire. It fits cars with rain gutters and has locks too, almost brand new. .....any good to you..?

that sounds like exactly what im looking for, but that is really what im trying to find out, im guessing that the sierre had metal gutters? i am suspicious that that type of fitting will foul the doors on a mk2?
