1974 Bay Campervan (Tin top)

Finally after a nail biting week on ebay, I got this 1974 Bay Camper for only 720 quid. It dont look much in the pics which is why i guess it didnt go for alot as it was part way through a resto, but the van is about 95% complete, all the pannels, doors, windows are with it, engine is also supplied but is a non runner got all the lights, fully wired. Went to see it before I bid on it in Marshland St James just down the road. The bloke has had it dry stored for 8 years, and this definatly shows by the excellent bodywork, you can clearly see that this bus has no filler just small sections where the rot had been cut out, Im gunna have loadsa fun on this little project.

Vans complete mate appart from the front arches. Just needs putting back together.

sweet, cars that look like that scare me, my old beetle ended up looking like that when i ripped it apart, and i thought to myself "shit what have i done..."

what are the plans, besides putting it back together?

Plans for the Bus so far. Oh and trust me iv been planning this for a couple of years.

My main goal is to make it Electrically modern. Flip down monitor in the back with surround sound, Remote control DVD head unit, BIIIIIIIIIIG Sound system, Remote controlled hard drive device in the rear for movies and music, USB ports linked to this for removable devices ie iPhone etc. LED lighting, Fridge, plug sockets, Central locking and alarm, electric windows, and a mains plug in box. Obviously a megga hefty battery power supply.

This is going to be a burgandy red Rat bus from the outside, and will not be changed from its origional look, with our business name SGC MASTERBUILD ratted on the side in an off white/ cream colour. Lowered on its ass on chrome porche rims. All new adjustable beam assembly and running gear, 2.0 ltr upwards.

The interiour will be custom made with a good quality wood like oak, (no laminated chipboard or MDF). All seating, cupboards, storage and bedside compartments will all be custom made by a good friend. Trim will be Cream leather with burgandy piping including the dash lol. Not decided on flooring as of yet, would like Shag pile but would get dirty and matted with the shows.

So basically from the outside it will look like a 36 year old standard rat bus, but inside will have everything and more of a modern caravan.
