if my car originally had a 1.4 in it and i wanted to chenge the engine to another engine like a 1.6 or 1.8 would i have to change anything else?

would it be easier to just put a 1.4 back in it or shall i change it to a bigger engine whilst i have the chance? cheers

Think you can put a 1.6 in but thats it

early mk4 1.8's are n/a 20v's meaning more work

even if you put the 1.6 in im pretty sure you will need to change the wiring loom and ecu then get the ECU coded to your car probably too. The 1.4s are crap i dont know why they built them, they always knock the bottom end out of themselves cause its not big enough for the car, ive known of several 1.4s with the bottom end gone.

Cheapest and easiest solution will be to put another 1.4 in but trying to find one for sale let alone a decent one is going to be hard.
