my car is beeing a dick

i think i have 2 problems.

i think one is that the fan dont work and it over heats badly and the thermostat (cant spell) might be sticking how do i get it off??

but the main problem is the engine keeps cutting out. it runs fine when holding the revs up, still starts first time but when i rev it and let off it cuts out and dosnt idle its really foooookin me off any ideas people?

If your cooling fan isnt working it maybe the switch in the rad is fooked! And as for the thermostat get a new one in there probably only be about £10.

I know VW have the termostats backwards compared to most cars so it should be located where the lower radiator hose joins the block (i think)

AS for it cutting out. What condition is the fuel filter in and when was it last changed? Could be clogged up and not letting petrol through.

the fuel filter is clean was changed over winter i have a feeling its something to do with the fueling

i ragged the sh1te out of it down the local bypass, now it runs fine:) weird :S still runs hot but not over heating

rad flush and coolant change for you billy?

its in the bottom of your waterpump.

its an easyish job especially if you havnt got PAS.

new thermostat will cost bout a tenner

look at your bottom hose follow it back to the water pump you will see its pushed on to a plastic elbow, the elbow comes off with the 2 10mm bolts you can see, undo them, bull the stat out and put it all back together, all your water will come out when you do it.

pah, its only water. what do you need that for?
