PostSubject: mk3 golf gearbox help   mk3 golf gearbox help EmptyMon May 18 2009, 10:00

right i need some help lads.

i spent all of sunday swapping my 4 speed box for a 5 speed. changed the oil made sure everything done up ect.

but theres a high pitch whine in 5th when the engines under strain (if
i take my foot off the throttle or put the clutch down it goes away).
this noise also gets progressively higher in the pitch of it the more
revs are going through the gear.

i used the same linkage as the four speed but moved where it sat on the
imput shaft bit on the gear box to allow for the necessary movement to
get it into fifth. ow and the box has been sat unused for about a year.

any ideas?
