does anyone know how much i can skim off a mk3 head...its a gti 2.0lt.

the company you (ie lindale ivor searls) use should have that data,they would know what its had off before and how much you can go down to

its normally between 0.012" and 0.020"

you can skim anything up to 0.040" bellow yours heads minimum thickness if you use a head gasket shim.

You can usually find your standard and minimum head thickness in a haynes manual, just convert it over to imperial. If you dont have one i've probably got the measurement written down somewhere.

If your are facing your head for performance, usually take 0.020" off or take it down to minimum.
