16v pulley ? Empty
PostSubject: 16v pulley ?   16v pulley ? EmptyWed Mar 18 2009, 06:39

I was wondering what you 16v folks have done about the vbelt pulleys. The mk1 doesn't have powersteering or ac, so its a simple vbelt setup from the crank to the waterpump and alternator. The problem is that the waterpump has this double pulley where the outer pulley turns the water pump and the inner pully is just free spinning on a bearing to take up the slack in the vbelt for the alternator. What has been done or what pulleys are needed? I've already tried using the original pulleys from the 1.8 that was in the mk1, but that wouldn't work. I really don't want to buy a powersteering pump just so the waterpump will work. Any ideas?

EDIT: the 16v is a KR that came from a corrado if that makes any difference

Some KRs have the double pulley setup but most dont mate so you could try finding a pulley setup from any 16v engine that doesnt use the double pulley.
