| evenin all does anyone know if the crank pulley bolt on polos is a right or left hand thread? im buggered if i can get mine undone... it may just be that im a wimp... cheers | |

| it will be right handed mate. They take some force to free off usually as they are done up to something like 260ftlbs? I always windy gun mine off.
what you actually doing that needs the crank pulley coming off anyway?
and have you got a new bolt to replace it with as they are usually stretch bolts. | |

| thought it was me being a wimp! im (still) doing the cam belt/water pump/head etc. i should pull my finger out and get it done really... not got a new bolt, thought it should be ok puttin it back just the once... recon it'll be a good idea to change it then? | |

| dude you sure you need to take the crank pulley bolt out? You never have to take the crank pulley off normally. Thats the whole pulley dude right off the end of the crank. Isnt there 4 allen key bolts on the inside to undo to take the alt belt pulley off as i assume thats what is in your way. | |

| not on the AFH, theres just the one bolt thru the cam belt pulley and the alternator belt pulley. theres no other bolts on it. ive got the workshop manual from vw which says to take out that bolt, take the alternator belt pulley off then put that bolt on to hold the toothed pulley while you change the belt/time it etc. | |

| this was bugging me, so i checked on autodata in my garage. it seems there is only the one bolt holding the pulley on, not the four there usually is | |
