anybody on here got any experience with bike carbs?

thinking about putting some on a vr6, should sound Twisted Evil

the questions i have are;

would i need 6 carbs? one for each cylinder?

if i do need 6, do i buy 2 banks of 4 and join em together, with two cut off?

how would i jet them for a 2.8?

thanks everyone!

bike carbs are generally crap and hard to tune. Also dunno what you would do with regards to getting 6 of them working? Ports on the VRs are very weird and would be hard to make a manifold that would work as well surely?

Bike carbs come as separates mark. You'd probs have to buy them as sets so you'll have 2 spare. Least you'll have 2 to rob of bits if need be.

You'll need to build a manifold using the original lower inlet bit and coupling that to a custom peice for the carbs.

Anyone well into there superbikes will easily be able to set them up for you.

Considered similar set ups as i have an uncle who's a dab hand at sorting such probs out.

I'd like to see you do this over turbo'ing Cool

but bike carbs are meant for high revving 4 pots not really that great on a low revving VR.. The best thing for a VR really is turboing. By the time you have bought the carbs, made a manifold, using the lower piece would be a pain as the runners are so close. By the time you have paid for a rolling road session and had the carbs setup to maybe make 200hp max you could have paid for the management to run your turbo setup. Carbs are nice to look at and sound cool but arent the best performers.. IF you want to go down the NA route.. throttle bodies are SO much better in every single way.

+1

For the amount of hassle you'll encounter going down the carb route, you may as well go for ITBs.

Having said that, would you need to go down the aftermarket management route?
