whats needed......

to turn my mk3 8v into a vr6?

Is it just a straight swap?

How hard is itto do?

Has any1 on here done it?

surely easier to just buy a VR? Dont build what you can buy

good shout. But fancy keeping the colour concept as its fairly tidy.

Also what the insurance company dont knowwont hurt them.

what the insurance company dont know wont hurt em, thats true but it will hurt you if you have a crash. i remember talking to someone who had to cough up like 4 grand cos he was in a crash and the insurance was void.

In that case i would think Engine, gearbox, wiring loom, ecu, front engine mount, rear mount on the drivers side i think. Clocks as the tacho gets a different signal for 6 cylinders.

Then other parts depend on if your getting an OBD1 engine or OBD2.

Read up on mk2vr6.com or whatever it is, i know its into a mk2 but its a similar conversion into a mk3 you just dont need to change your sub frame

Just buy a VR donor mate. You'll have everything needed then

you'll also need the vr radiator as the coolant pipes are routed differently. there's quite a few other little things you'll need as well. i did a vr swap on my mk3 jetta before i left the states. i'm glad that i did have a donor car, otherwise id probably still be looking for bits and pieces here and there for it. it would be best to just get your hands on a donor car. if you need help or info just let me know
