what engine is the 50mm inlet manifold from? 2L?

i have a 1.8 16v, would this come with the 40ishmm inlet or the 50mm?

does putting the larger inlet on make a difference?

so why does the larger engine have a smaller inlet?

i thought it was the other way round , maybe i was wrong then?

so what does putting a smaller inlet onto a 1.8 do?

i thought people upgraded by putting the 50mm on

40mm = more low end grunt(torque)

50mm = More high end power(bhp)

Im pretty sure they varied from different years not engine sizes so i was told.

if you can that would be great!

ive got an inlet in my garage that looks like every other inlet ive ever owned but when i measure the bore with a tape measure it reads 50mm. is that the way to measure it?

it doesnt look fat or thin it just looks normal to me

i cant find the friggen picture but apparently the 50mm inlets come on 89 valvers onwards and the ones that "flare out" are the 42mm and the straight ones are 50mm.. I think it means where the plugs are.. i dunno? Anyway i'll keep digging mate.

ah no i got it the wrong way round..

flared = 50mm to fit plugs in

straight pipe = 42mm.

50mm on the left - 42mm on the right

i guess ive got 2 50mm's then cuz both of mine 'flare out' i.e. get bigger as they go accross the head

cheers boy! youve saved me taking one off just to replace it with what would be exactly the same
