scirocco 20vt

so I have finally started my project after sitting around for the last 4/5 months
today I have taken the engine out, gear stick and rods out, put new turbo, camblet on 20vt and painted the inlet manifold

aready come across my first problem, the speedo cable I brought fits the 02j gearbox but doesn't fit my speedo clocks, I need a plastic clip type that clips strait in the back of my clocks, I brought the mk1 golf 1.3 thinking that's what I need but its wrong, so if anybody has any idea what cable I need would be a great help

didn't really get much done today because I spent half the day traveling backwards and forwards to central auto supplies trying to get a aux belt to fit,
then when I came to fit the clutch I had no clutch bolts so have to pick them up from vindis tomorrow

so today I cut 2 holes in the bulk head for gear cables and welded a plate over the hole in the old gear hole
put the engine in and hanging there

I should have cleaned the engine beore putting it in but im on a bit of a time limit

bad day today, went to pick up my clutch bolts it the morning and they where wrong so I didn't get them till 4pm, so thought id put my g60 breaks on and as I thought I have the carriers for the 256mm disks not the 280mm,
so im in despite need for som g60 front carriers that are for the 280mm disks if any body has some for sale?

so all I did today was change a cv boot and lined up the cable shift ready to be bolted down

today I got the gear box in and all 4 engine mounts bolted up, drive shafts back in, gears all connected up ( just got to bolt it down inside the car )
clutch all connected up, heater matrix pipes connected up, inlet manifold bolted down, inter cooler inplace, and a few other bits

found that my fan wont fit on the radiator now so need to source a slimline one







was hoping to have it running this weekend but having problems with clutch bolts lost me a day and problem with fan a breaks now slowing me down

got a bity of spare time today so I decided to fit my bam injectors to my agu manifold.... turns out its a easy job to do all I did was dermal the inserts out slightly and cut the brackets off the fuel rail and re welded them on heres a few pics

got some more bits done today, mad up the boost pipes wired in my ecu , not far off first start up now, just need to get some pipework to make a top radiator hose fill up with water and away it should go fingers crossed

right so everything is in now but I cant get the car started... seem to have no spark, so I have to wait until Tuesday and get hold of ben at qpeng see whats wrong..... ive triple checked to wiring and all seem in place , very frustrating

ah ha its alive! after fiddling about I realised there was no pulse to the injectors or coil packs, so I called millfields to see if they had a crank shaft sensor which they did so after nearly being side swiped twice on the same roundabout by people that don't look in there mirrors or understand lanes!!!!! I picked the part up fitted it and hey presto she fired into life , 1 of my neighbours was not impressed (it was very loud as I haven't finished the exhaust) so I decided to call it a day and will take it to work on Tuesday and hopefully find some time to put a back box on and tidy it up.

few more pics now with the engine bay tided up, just need to finish putting the interior back together, and also has a misfire under load so need to investigate this apart from that all seems good and is VERY fast ,
next years plans are to convert it to 4wd so will be looking out for a cheap audi tt 4wd , and another agu lump to rebuid massive turbo etc wanting 500bhp

keep an eye out for octavia 1.8t 4x4 elegance too. Same car as Audi tt underneath and no Audi price tag

over the weekend i have been preparing the scirocco for a carbon fiber roof









hopefully i will get the carbon fiber skin all glued in this week
