| Hi all, I'm about to start my engine conversion on my 1.6d caddy to 1.8 20v turbo I swapped my mk2 vr6 for a pretty solid caddy 2 weeks ago And yesterday I picked up a mk4 golf gti 1.8t for £450 from chatteris. Complete car just seen the wrong side of a hedge and post but all the stuff I need is intact. In fact the car drives really well and the wife is gonna use it for a couple of weeks as the cam belt "fell off" our A4 and were waiting for a new head . . . . Long story. I'm gonna get some photos uploaded and keep the thread as up to date as possible. I'll also be calling on you all no doubt as things progress.
I haven't got a parts list yet so any input would be greatly received
Regards
Paul | |

| A few holes to fill in here Looks pretty good on the surface 1.6d a not so quality item. Noisy starter, horrific linkage, hella stiff clutch. A dream to drive the wife loves it !!!! The donor picking up tomorrow. | |

| Yea I watched it on the bay and it went through with no bids so I offered him a swap and it took a few weeks for us both to sort out a meeting halfway between both of us which turned out to be Oxford and we did a swap in a McDonalds car park. He drove my vr I drove the caddy we swapped keys and drove home. | |

| Me and fellow Fendubber Andy (dragon green cabriolet with schmidts) went to collect the donor car from Chatteris in the caddy. It has been said that if I didn't have bad luck then I would have no luck at all.. Managed to cut through the fuel line on a speed bump in Chatteris town centre leaving me dripping fuel out all the way back and doing £20.00 of diesel to do 22 miles. . . Nice The donor was not without problems too. It had a bit of a misfire on the test drive but the guy said it had been standing for a couple of weeks so I got Andy to give it a beasting on the way home to try to dry it out. But the misfire was worse when we got it back. I just thought I'd check the plugs and coil packs. All coil packs fine but one plug had the electrode missing!!!!! So luckily for me a new set of plugs and she was as good as new. So a quick clean over hoover out and a home made Perspex window and she will do for now. | |
