i have a j reg mk1 caddy . the battery keeps going dead so i got a new one and still gose dead so i have no put a new alternator on it and when u put the white on from there to bat it sparks witch i though means its working but yet my bat gose dead then i lose lights as i have just had to drive 14 miles along back roads with no lights and my friend out the window with his phone light . any one have any idea as to what it could be . could it still be the alt as its not brand new ? iv no idea as new to caddys any help would be great thank you

the problems point to the alternator.

is the belt tight?
