| ive just bought another engine and it caked in 20 years of oil and crap, the manifolds are all off ,whats the best and safest way to clean it | |

| I normally use diesel on an old washing up brush, as the engines out mate i'd then block up any ports both inlet and exhaust chuck any other chemicals I had at it (alloy wheel cleaner, TFR)and then get the pressure washer on it (concrete blaster if you have one) then after you've blown it dry with the air line spray with brake cleaner to get the oil residue off.
But then I am fairly lazy.
