| Been doing things this week to resolve the right hand corner fuel starvation prob i been having when dropping down to half a tank of fuel. Been keeping it topped up so i can enjoy driving it without having to take her off the road again. Picked a very good petrol tank approx a month ago to swap over just incase my original was the cause. I know mine is fine but changed it anyway. Also decided to fit a 16v mk2 golf fuel pump. For simple reasons, i believe it works as a mini fuel cell. The return pipe also goes to it before the tank therefore keeping it topped up. As its such a small unit, there's also less movement of the ful inside meaning it should'nt try suck up air!. Anyway, thats my logic to the right hander starvation probs i and others have had. Here's a pic of a mk2 golf/corrado fuel pump Its quite a large unit to get in the space between the fuel tank and cab wall so i cut it down of the golf's fixing bracket and also the bracket for the fuel filter. Somehow needed to mount it so the gravity fed tank outfeed was level with the infeed to the pump so i made a shelf for the pump to sit on Used a front number plate mounting panel as it was just at hand in my garage. Also realised that the recess in the panel would help stop it from bending. Once cut to shape, i drilled 2 holes for fixing and the others so water could run off. I then painted it for pretection from rust, i chose the red so it stood out in the pic's. Once i left it over night to dry, i mounted it in place As you can see, it sits on the edge of the cab wall and the leaf spring mount. 10mm bolt either side should keep it in place. Then was time for the pump to sit on it The pump is only cable tied in place at the mo as i search for somting more secure(probs a fatter cable tie ) but it wont fall out as its jammed in by the amount of hoses. note that i have fitted the accumilator in back to front, that way the hoses can be seen and the dont it the trucks bodywork. after routing a few hoses about, i managed to keep the filter down there aswell rather than bring it up to the metering head like on mk1 gti's. Filled it back up with the fuel i removed(approx half a tank)then turned the key to prime a few times to get the lines filled again. After a few attempts, she fired to life. At first, i thought the pump was bloody noisey but went for a spin anyway. Did a couple of miles to the nearest roundabout for a test. She spluttered for a split second(not as bad as before), I then cruised back, by this time the pump went quite(probs fully filled by this time) so went to the next roundabout and gave it some beens. No splutter, no fuel starvation. JOB DONE Hope my little right up helps out others in similar circumstances :thumbs_up | |

Yeah bud, she drives much better after a few little adjustments. Still looking to have a custom stainless exhaust made then a trip to mvdevelopments so they can fine tune it. Yeah remote central locking is a nice little extra to have. Was also going to fit electric windows but decided not to at last minute as i lose that retro feel inside me thinks. Quite like the chrome/black winders i have anyway Let me know if you want RCL doing and i'll get a kit sorted for when i pop down. | |

| As Curtis has my other daily tailgate to do some paint on it, i went and bought this one to run about with rather than fit my mint new one. After DA'ing it down a bit, i rattle canned it white again on the outside of the panel. Once dried, i then DA'd the writing down to bare metal so the script will go rusty. All in good time for last nights rain | |
