How easy/hard would it be to put a mk2 gti 8v engine and running gear into a mk2 polo saloon?

very hard! I chucked one into a mk3 coupe a few years ago, literally a 2 week project never to see the road. It involved cutting most of the car off infront of the windscreen and rebuilding widened chassis legs as the engine/gearbox is actually wider than the space it has to go in. I'm sure I could now do it properly as I've done many more conversions since, but unless you are very handy with a welder i wouldn't even attempt it.

He then ended up with a polo with half the front chassis missing, a redundant gti engine and a grinder that was burnt out. Smooth.
