Reverse light switch.. Empty
PostSubject: Reverse light switch..   Reverse light switch.. EmptyFri Jan 21 2011, 13:25

The reverse lights have never worked on my brothers mk4 golf so i checked the fuses ect and they are all ok, then i did the old trick with a paper clip to bridge the contacts on the plug to see if they actually work then. They work fine when bridged.

So i bought a new switch from vw and swapped it over today but they still dont work slaphead I took the switch back out and when the button on the bottom of the switch is pressed by hand the lights come on fine as they should do. So it looks like the switch isnt getting 'pressed' when its screwed into the gearbox? The switch is the same depth as the old one and doesnt have any washers or anything like that stopping it from being tightend down fully.

Any ideas?
