What manhole cover tom you say its near the golden hind sounds nasty but you only had an inch clearance.

i raised it about 15mm ;-(

im gunna weld some skid plates to the bottom of the sump and the wishbone mounts etc then drop it again

or im thinking about an engine raise....

Engine raise and the skid pan would be your best bet mate. Drop the guys on edition who make the MK4 engine raisers a PM and see if they could make you a custom set.

The problem is I've never seen an engine of this era raised, mk4s are a peice of p**s cos you can just space the mounts upwards

I put a post on edition about engine raising but no responses yet...

you knob you just space these up too. hockey pucks are good, and longer bolts of course

New sump, already fucked after about 50 miles



new tyres as the old ones are bald on both sides

I was thinking much the same

Been having oil pressure problems all week



Pulled the new sump off to find this;



sumps obviously taken a hit and the baffle has come loose and grinded against the crank, theres plastic shavings everywhere



this is what its meant to look like

bought another sump as the current one will inevitably split.

im going to get a massive plate welded to the bottom so protect it, but thought i may as well baffle it at the same time

drew some super rough cad drawings




and some even rougher card templates

if you weld a plate to the sump then surely it will make the sump lower and will take even more of a beating and the plate wont last long at all?

Solving the problem of braking 2 sumps in as many weeks by designing a baffle. Good work
