| on my mk3 cl 1.4 basically whenever running the idle is all over the place started it up once and idle went up to 2000rpm then dropped to 900 then cut out, all the time now just idles at 850-900 keeps coming close to cutting out, is it the choke? any one have any ideas? | |

if it is, i bet its that, they love playing up
maybe worth upgrading the carb to a peiburg or however you spell it, you can get them for about £30-£40 | |

| actually, have you cleaned the carb out recently?
if not, pop into halfords and get a can of carb cleaner for about £3

works wonders havent cleaned the carb yet was intending to go halfords today for the cleaner, think the carb already is a pierburg? 2e3? | |

| Would that be a 1.4 mk3 GOLF ?
If so that CARB (!)would be a single point injection unit and cleaning it will help but it sounds like an air leak. imo
