Exhausts Empty
PostSubject: Exhausts   Exhausts EmptySun Jan 17 2010, 22:49

I wasn't too sure which section to put this in, but im thinking the 'styling' part counts most for this question.

I want an upwards slanting pipe for my exhaust, but I'm not too sure how to do it Exhausts Icon_scratch Can I just literally cut the existing pipe off and re-weld it at the desired angle?

Also what makes an exhaust suitable for a specific car? I'm just thinking what would happen/go wrong if i put say a GTi exhaust on my 1.4?

cheers

Ash

my brother used my center box as his back box on his mk3 and cut the pipe off and welded it at an angle looked cool as f**k, and sounded pretty good too

haha im really not thinking of doing it for power, more for laughs really! no point trying to make my car anymore powerful, doubt the wheels could handle it Exhausts 51732

I suppose i could cut the hangers off and re-weld them into the right place on the box..

i just wouldnt want to put a gti exhaust on it if its going to make the car run any worse than it is

Cut mine off at the centre section and did away with the back box all together then welded some stainless pipe and bent it to the shape i wanted Exhausts 51732 still got one middle silencer which is plenty. As the guy said just heat it and bend it, very easy Exhausts Icon_biggrin (wont work with stainless though)

a mk3 gti system has a different design to other mk3's. .i.e. it splits in different sections

but....i imagine a reducer off of the down pipe and a de-cat pipe and a lil bit of hanger/mount adaptation would allow a gti exhaust to be fitted.

specialists like powerflow etc will build you an exhaust with an upturned tail pipe for about 250-300. give or take. if i found my receipt then id be able to say exact figure as it will be very similar to mine
